Olivia Munn froze "a bunch of eggs" when she turned 35.
The X-Men: Apocalypse star has been dating sportsman Aaron Rodgers since May 2014, but isn't quite ready to start a family with her beau. So, when she had her birthday last July, Olivia made the decision to have some eggs retrieved to make it easier for her to conceive in the future.
"I turned 35, then you’re high risk. I did, years ago, freeze a bunch of eggs," Olivia revealed on Anna Faris‘ podcast Anna Faris Is Unqualified on Tuesday (12Apr16). "I went to the doctor and did the whole test and he said, 'You know, you actually have a lot of eggs. You’re really lucky'."
It was when one of Olivia's friends of the same age had an egg count at the doctors that the actress realised she needed to take action.
"A girlfriend of mine - we’re the same age - she’d gone to the doctor, had a test and she had the egg count of a 50 year old,” she said.
Olivia is just one of the stars who have made the decision to have her eggs frozen - Maria Menounos and Joanna Krupa have also undergone the retrieval process. The cost of medication and treatment for one cycle is roughly $8,000 (£5600) - £12,000 (£8400) and storing eggs will cost a few hundred dollars per year.
Now the actress is doing her utmost to spread the word to her friends about the procedure.
"I actually started telling my friends about it," Olivia said. "It’s no longer on the experimental list and I think that every girl should do it. For one, you don’t have to race the clock any more. You don’t have to worry about it, worry about your job or anything. It’s there.
"It’s also just like, why not do it, because I see so many women who go through this. Doomsday is now like whatevers day, because I am prepared
