books we're loving to read aloud

The Giant Jam Sandwich
I must have read this 1,000 times as a child and still read my original copy to the kids.
It's in safe-keeping over at Nanny's house to avoid being gooped on.

The Incredible Book Eating Boy
A boy with a word digestion problem - fun.

Fish out of Water
For some reason Mr Magoo and Bugsy absolutely love this story and are excited to find out what happens each time.  Should I be worried that they're still surprised each time??

Ruby Lu Brave and True

Any of Lenore Look's books are fantastic.
I can't believe they're not on the bestseller lists constantly.
I highly recommend her Alvin Ho series as well.
If you loved the Diary of a Wimpy Kid humour, you'll enjoy Lenore Look.

Year of the Tiger
This is JD's set book for school at the moment.  Every now and then we curl up on his bed and I read a chapter or two.  It's good to have mum/son time-out from the rest of the household.  It's got me absolutely hooked! Fabulous for young highschool boys. Here's a description of the story {click}

Miss Match and everything else written by Eryn Mangum
Mimi is as addicted to these books as the heroine is to caffeine.
She read the first series of three books in about three days.
She also loves mum/daughter time curled up on her bed, so I get to relive my teenage reading years when Judy Blume and Sweet Valley High were all the rage.
Erny Mangum's a Christian author, but her books are by no means preachy or sickly sweet.
Purely funny and delightful.  Yay!
Young adult fiction can be a minefield.
Mimi reads her share of darker themes, so this provides a nice balance.

I wish someone would read these aloud to me.
And stroke my hair.

Anyone? Anyone?
