Gemma Collins has recorded romantic ballad about Arg split with Naughty Boy - Irish Mirror

Posted: 22 Mar 2019 01:43 AM PDT

Gemma Collins isn't afraid of expanding her repertoire and after crashing out of Dancing on Ice a music career is next on the agenda.

The 38-year-old TOWIE star has made no secret of her hope to be the next Beyonce and after showing off her singing skills to Naughty Boy, that ambition is within reach.

According to the music producer, who has actually worked with Queen Bey as well as Emeli Sande, he believes Gemma has got what it takes to be a musical success.

She's recorded a heartbreak ballad called Come Home with the superstar producer, who's real name is Shahid Khan, which he reckons could be "one of the biggest songs of the year".

Gemma has recorded a ballad with the help of Naughty Boy

Naughty Boy gushed about working with the reality star , after they were introduced at the Brit Awards in February, saying that he believes she was "born to sing".

He revealed that when they met, despite it being a room full of award-winning popstars, that The GC stood out from the crowd.

Referring to the clip of Gemma singing a part of Beyonce's song Running backstage he admitted he was blown away.

"When she sung me that, I was thinking, 'This girl can actually sing, she's got a personality and she's got a following. This is the new age superstar'," he told the Sun .

Gemma wants to become the next Beyonce

"When people hear the music and hear her voice, I think it's going to take her up a notch.

"I don't consider Gemma a reality TV person, I consider her a superstar."

He said the track he'd worked on with Gemma was a romantic ballad which spoke to her current situation with on-off boyfriend James 'Arg' Argent.

Gemma had been inseparable from Naughty Boy since they met at the awards ceremony with rumours swirling that the pair were enjoying a secret romance, following her brief split from Arg.

But the two had become fast friends bonding over a love of music with the producer taking to Instagram to praise his new bestie.

She has been working closely with her new bestie

He shared a selfie of the pair saying: "My new favourite singer the QUEEN of EVERYTHING @gemmacollins1 #higervibration#shepowerful #wegonnahelpher#ibelieveinher"

He shared the same snap on Twitter , adding: "She's one in a MILLION she's NOT To be UNDERVALUED #Queen"

Fans have been hoping that the duo are working on Gemma's album and as she prepares to jet off to try and crack America, there's hope yet.

She is set to film a six-part series that will document her attempts to become the 'next big thing' and she will be joined by Dancing On Ice partner, professional skater Matt Evers, who will be meeting her in Los Angeles.

Keto diet for postpartum weight loss: New mom tries diet for 30 days - TODAY

By Joelle Garguilo

When it comes to losing weight, I've tried it ALL at this point: the cabbage soup diet, grapefruit diet, master cleanse (Beyoncé made me do it), Atkins, counting points, juices and meal delivery services. You name it, I've tried it. Don't even get me started on weight-loss infomercials.

Eight months ago I gave birth to my second child, Viviana. Along with my Viviana has come an extra 13 pounds, four pairs of split pants and a couple of busted zippers. I gave myself seven months postpartum where I didn't even think about dieting. I'm not looking to get my body back. I grew and birthed two human beings, that is incredible and I don't want to erase that in any way.

March 18, 201907:38

What I DO want "back" is my confidence and my ability to wear my pants without tearing holes in them.

So here I am in familiar territory, scouring the internet for a new diet to try. It's clear that the ketogenic diet is having a moment (even Al Roker is a big fan of keto.) I figured I'd give it a shot for 30 days and see what happened.

The buzz

The keto or ketogenic diet is a high-fat, moderate-protein, low-carb diet… I'm talking low-carb to the extreme!

According to New York City-based nutritionist Keri Glassman only 5 percent of your calories should come from carbohydrates, 20 percent from protein and 75 percent from fat. To put that into perspective, on a 2,000-calorie diet, that's only 25 grams of carbs (which I usually consume by 6 a.m., thanks to my coffee creamer).

How on earth can a diet so high in fat actually work? The explanation actually does make sense: Normally our bodies use glucose (carbohydrates) for fuel. If you deplete your body of carbs it will turn to fat for its fuel source. That metabolic state is called ketosis and it's supposed to turn you into a fat burning machine! Getting there doesn't happen overnight, it can take a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

Possible benefits include:

  • Weight loss
  • Appetite control
  • Better mental focus
  • Increased HDL (the good cholesterol)
  • Lowered blood pressure

Possible cons include:

  • Nutrient deficiencies
  • The "Keto flu" (tired, irritable, sugar cravings)

Starting the diet

Switching over to a ketogenic diet was overwhelming for me. I didn't realize that my entire life revolved around carbs. Sunday pasta dinners were the norm growing up and I LOVE carbs — like really, really love them! So when I first decided to try keto, I thought I would starve because there was nothing I could eat. I'm happy to say that's not true.

Here are some keto-friendly foods:

  • Eggs
  • Poultry
  • Fatty fish
  • Meat
  • Full-fat dairy
  • Full-fat cheese
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Nut butter
  • Healthy fats, like avocados
  • Non-starchy vegetables

The first week

I committed to trying this diet for 30 days. I'll be honest: These were the longest four weeks of my entire life. I went through every single emotion you could think of.

Day one of week one was great! I prepared myself to be fully miserable, exhausted and in dire need of carbs. I wasn't at all. Day two… Same exact thing! Then day three hit, and I was miserable. I'm embarrassed to admit that I came very, very close to stealing a bagel out of a stranger's hand. And now anger set in every time I saw a carbohydrate. I tried to work out but had to stop after 30 minutes of cardio because I had zero energy.

As bad as I felt towards the end of that first week, when I weighed myself I couldn't believe how fast the numbers started to go down. I've never lost weight that fast in my life. For me, that's the exact motivation I needed to stay on track.

Jan. 12, 201903:29

Making the diet work for me

By week two I was getting really bored with the foods so I started to look online for inspiration and found a really nice community. I reached out to this woman Suzanne Ryan (@KetoKarma on Instagram) who lost over 100 pounds on keto. She gave me a bunch of recipes from her cookbook and that was a game changer. I found that if I took the time to actually prep my meals for the week, the chances of me cheating and getting bored decreased dramatically. Recognizing my weaknesses was a big shift for me; normally I'd just call it quits.

It was during week two that I realized how many things in my life revolve around food, and more often than not, carbohydrates. My weight loss stalled a little during week three and it is likely because I had some cheat days. That's the thing about keto, if you go off of it, it takes a while to get your body back on track.

The other thing I noticed was when I put carbohydrates back in my body (a lot came from sugar when I cheated) I physically felt horrible, and that feeling lasted a good two days. The cheating just wasn't worth it on this diet.

By week four, I actually lost the desire to shove any carbohydrate within eyesight in my face, it was a miracle! This diet did something so much bigger for me than just losing 8.5 pounds: It pointed out my relationship with food, and currently, it's not a good one. When I'm tired… I eat. When I'm bored… I eat. When I want to reward myself… I do it with food.

I realized that often I'm eating just to eat, not to truly nourish my body and enjoy what I'm putting in it. I never realized it before, but this diet was like a magnifying glass for me.

Final recap

Here's the truth: I love carbs WAY too much to give them up permanently. It's just not sustainable for me. I wanted to do this to fit back into my pre-baby clothes. And guess what, I do!

More importantly than the weight loss, I now have a better understanding of my relationship with food and the changes that need to be made in my everyday life for me to be healthy and stop dieting once and for all. Going forward I'm going to try to embrace a low-carb lifestyle but let's be real, a girl needs a slice of pizza every now and then.

Daniel Caesar: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know - Heavy.com

Daniel Caesar

Daniel Caesar said he was "drunk as f***" during an Instagram Live rant in which he wondered, "Why are we being so mean to white people right now?" Caesar, 23, crossed over as a mainstream R&B star following the release of his 2017 album, "Freudian." That came after Caesar, real name Ashton Simmonds released two EPs, "Praise Break," in 2014, and "Pilgrim's Paradise" in 2015.

Caesar was born in Oshawa, Ontario, to parents who had emigrated from Jamaica and Barbados, respectively. His father, Norwill, was a successful gospel singer in his own right. There were four children, including Caesar in the family. They attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Oshawa while the children attended the church's schools.

Caesar's first EP was named as on of the top R&B albums of the year in 2014 by Rolling Stone. The album's themes were love, religion and Caesar's upbringing. Caesar has cited artists as diverse as Jim Morrison, Beyonce, Frank Ocean and Kanye West, as his major influences.

It was not until 2016 when Caesar began to become a mainstream artist after his song "Get You" was streamed over 20 million times by Apple Music.

In total, Caesar has amassed nearly 250 million streams on Spotify. His album, "Freudian," dropped in August 2017. Caesar saw himself nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2018 and the 2018 Polaris Music Prize. In 2019, Caesar won Best R&B Performance for "Best Part" in 2019.

Here's what you need to know:

1. Caesar Defended Controversial Instagram Influencer Yes Julz in His Video

On March 20, the video dropped showing an inebriated Caesar tells his Instagram Live followers, "Why are we being so mean to white people right now? That's a serious question. Why is it that we're allowed to be disrespectful and rude to everybody else and when anybody returns any type of energy to us . . . That's not equality. I don't wanna be treated like I can't take a joke."

Caesar then made a direct reference to Instagram influencer, Yes Julz. During an appearance on the "Easily Offended" podcast, Julz took aim at former Hot97 host Scottie Beam as well as media personality, Karen Civil, via BET. Julz made reference in that appearance to once posting a photo of a t-shirt that read, "N***** Lie a Lot." Julz is a white person.

Caesar went on, "People are allowed to say whatever the f*** they want… White people have been mean to us in the past. What are you gonna do about that? Tell me what you're gonna do about that. There's no answer other than creating understanding and keeping it moving. That's some biblical shit. You have to bridge the gap." The singer added that "being a victim doesn't get you paid." He made reference to sleeping on a park bench before he made it big. Caesar concludes with the words, "I don't believe in that s*** because I think you guys are wrong and I'm right."

2. A Week Before the Video Controversy, Dave Chappelle Attracted Criticism for Calling Caesar 'Very Gay'

Daniel Caesar Dave Chappelle

A weel before the Instagram video scandal broke, Caesar was in the news as he was called "very gay" in an appearance on John Mayer's Instagram Live show. Caesar was in the room at the time Chappelle made the remark. Afterward, Chappelle said, "Huh? Oh, I'm sorry, did I say that out loud? I'm just kidding."

Chappelle then said, "Daniel Caesar is a musician from Toronto that I just made tonight. Black. I got jealous. I didn't know John had other friends." In a more serious tone, Chappelle took say, "Daniel, you're great. Before this broadcast started, me and this brother sat at a piano and he played expertly. Beautifully. I knew for a fact that I was in the presence of not just someone that was good, but someone that was great. But the fact that I offended you…"

Mayer said that everyone on the show, bar him, was drunk. The singer/songwriter said, "Dave, people just saw for a minute what happens when you speak freely and you have alcohol in you're working free association and you accidentally say something that trips someone's feelings up. But you have to clean it up." Caesar can be heard asking Chappelle, "What the hell was that?" Later, Caesar admitted that he had been too "sensitive" over the joke as the pair hugged on camera.

In his March 20 video, Caesar made reference to the Chappelle incident saying, "I just went through that f****** Chappelle shit and I had to, in the moment, acknowledge that I was being f****** sensitive and that I need to be able to take a joke just like everybody else."

3. Caesar Has Previously Expressed His Support for Conspiracy Theorist Candace Owens

In April 2018, Caesar attracted controversy when he expressed support for the views of conservative conspiracy theorist Candace Owens. Owens had previously earned the support of Kanye West. Caesar retweeted and then deleted tweets from Owens. Caesar wrote, via Philly Customs, "Listen to the arguments of the opposition. It really can't hurt. Can only lead to a clearer understanding."

Prior to deleting the messages, Caesar wrote, "Ima delete these, cuz I'm no martyr but gotta let them breathe for a sec." He followed that up with, "Also society decides morality. Shit that was okay 50 years ago is considered despicable today. That basically mans morality and group think go hand in hand no?" Just before this tweetstorm, Caesar had performed at the Coachella festival. In a lengthier statement, Caesar explained his retweeting of Owens thoughts. The singer said, in part, "I genuinely believe that you can combat hatred and ignorance with communication and understanding." Caesar attributed his lack of understanding of the sensitivity of the issue due to being Canadian and growing up in a predominately white neighborhood.

The statement concluded with the words, "It's my personal belief that it's OK for us to disagree about how to fight hatred, but as long, as we don't attack each other and we listen to each other's perspectives, we can all learn something."

4. Caesar Was Homeless for a While in His Youth After Being Expelled From High School

When Caesar was in the 10th grade, he failed choir class, according to a 2014 Noisey interview. Caesar attributed this failure to coinciding with his discovery of weed. In the same interview, Caesar says that he was expelled from school in the 11th grade for selling around "two grams" of marijuana to a classmate.

5. Caesar Accounted for 2 of President Barack Obama's Songs in 2017

In 2017, it was revealed that Caesar accounted for two songs on President Barack Obama's favorites songs of the year list. Caesar tweeted about this revelation, "Yoooo s/o to the Obama's haha this is very exciting for me." The songs featured were "Blessed" and "First World Problems," in which Caesar collaborated with Chance the Rapper.

While his Instagram followers include Kendall Jenner, Jesse Williams and Joe Jonas.
